This is one of those things that may have been around forever and I just haven't heard of it until recently (don't you hate when that happens?), but I just heard about this, and have spent an hour or so checking out these
critter photos.
I guess the story is, this guy has a bunch of chipmunks living in his backyard. He knows them. He feeds them. And he takes hilarious pictures of them. Of course, my favorites are the ones with
Commander Caiin, but even the ones with just almonds in their mouths are cute as hell, too. The posts with the
stats just kill me.
So, sometime if you're bored, and if you've got a few minutes to see some cuteness,
check it out.

Watching "Ugly Betty" last night, and seeing Lindsay on there (playing a former mean girl type, natch) kinda reminded me... Lindsay Lohan is still a young, talented woman... who happens to also be pretty hot. Sure, she had a few rough months in there where she seemed to be losing her shit, but she seems to be on the straight and narrow lately.
Perhaps that was a poor choice of words, considering who she's dating (Samantha Ronson)...
But seriously. She hasn't been caught passed out in a car lately. She hasn't been caught with drugs. Yeah, I know... "OOOOOoooo but she's dating a... a... a woman!" So what? If that's what it takes for her to be at peace; "normal," if you will, then good for her. If she's happy, then good for her. I much prefer this new kinder, gentler Lohan to the wild party girl Lohan (and I'm guessing that she thinks the same thing).
So, I don't know if it's OK to like Lindsay Lohan again. But I do. Like her, that is. Again.
Welcome back, Lindsay! We've all missed you.

This is kinda old news, but if you haven't heard, Target has been selling a lot of Domo products. At first, they were selling Domo notebooks, folders, and binders. And if you've gone into a Target lately, then you've seen all the Domo-related Halloween gear.

I have to say, though... while I love seeing Domo getting some mainstream recognition, I also can't help but feel a little sad. Domo used to be like, a little secret that only we knew about. But now, Domo is just everywhere. There's too much
Domo stuff. It's like having your favorite local band that nobody's heard about make it big and selling out. It's like having a hobby that everyone thought was weird, until it became trendy, and then everybody treats you like you're just a trend whore. I know that you guys know that Domo and I have been tight for years now, and I know I shouldn't care if everybody (erroneously) thinks I'm a trend whore. But I still care. A little. I mean, who likes to be called "trendy?"
I feel a little better knowing that I'm not the only person who's a bit sad about Domo's newfound mainstream fame... I see that
other people feel this way, too.
Of course, I still had to get some of the new, costumed Domos (OK, so really, Joelle got them for me. Thanks
Joelle!). Hey, they're cute, and I couldn't resist. They're Domos!
The one in the pumpkin costume, I named "Gordo." You know, pumpkin. Gourd. Gourd-o. You get it.
And the one in the devil costume has been named "Diablo." Mostly because I wanted to stay consistent with all of my Domos' names ending on "o."
But don't worry...
Domo is and always will be my #1 Domo, even when he goes into retirement.
Anyways... so, while I'm sad that "the secret's out," I can at least be happy that more people get to enjoy Domo. And his infectious smile.
Rawr.

OK, I can't really say that these are the absolute worst people in the world. But you can't really argue that they're at the very least, some of the lowest pieces of shit in human form on the planet.
Seriously, who in the fuck
steals an 11 year old cancer patient's puppy and Wii?
The worst part? Investigators believe that it's people who know the family. They know the family. They know the kid has cancer, and they stole his stuff anyway. Not just stuff, but the dog. They stole a kid's dog. WTF, people?

So, when the show "Heroes" came out, I was totally into it. I couldn't wait to see it, thought it'd be exciting, etc. I ended up not liking it that much, because I didn't like most of the characters, and I thought the story left a lot to be desired.
For season two, I thought "Well, maybe it'll get better." It didn't. That "Hiro in the past" storyline went on for too long. The two South Americans trying to get to Dr. Suresh; that storyline went on for too long (and basically went nowhere). And for the last few episodes, I got the feeling the writers were doing anything to "wrap it up," since the season was ending soon. It was then and there that I decided to stop watching after the season was over (had to see exactly how it finished, didn't I?).
Alas, I let the hype get to me, and decided to give Heroes one last shot.
Talk about disappointment.
Seriously, I can't think of anything I liked from last night's episodes. I know, I know... everybody loves Heroes. I see all over the place how Heroes such a great show, and how it's the best show in TV, etc. etc. etc.
Bleh.
From big plot problems (I love how Hiro has to be totally stupid and act with the maturity of a 12 year old in order to make the plot move forward... that whole scene where he opened the safe even though he was told not to, and then letting the fast girl get away TWICE) to the little details (I saw one scene where Parkman was in the desert, and in the foreground, there was a python on a tree. Hello, pythons don't live in deserts, you morons!), I was disappointed.
I thought the show sucked. I mean, really, really sucked.
Will it get better? I don't know. Will I watch to see if it gets better? I don't know.
updated to add: another thing I hated about the season premiere... OK, my memory is a little fuzzy after two days, but I distinctly remember seeing at least four or five scenes that were totally ripped out of other shows/movies. I definitely saw two rips from T2, and I thought the whole Nathan/Linderman bit was a lot lot LOT like Baltar/Seven from Battlestar Galactica. I suppose it's a good thing that they're trying to be like BSG (which, by the way, is an
incredible show), but damn, to rip it so obviously? Just weak.
There were some other rip offs in there, but I'd have to watch the episodes again to remember them. I guess because the show was just so... un memorable.

Roger Ebert on Sarah Palin: "I want a vice president who is better, wiser, well-traveled, has met world leaders, who three months ago had an opinion on Iraq. Someone who doesn't repeat bald-faced lies about earmarks and the Bridge to Nowhere." [
link]
Amen.
While we're talking about wants...
How about, I want an election where the issues are real issues, like the economy, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, women's rights, our crumbling infrastructure, whether or not torture is ethical, domestic spying, etc. Too bad what we have is an election that's all about lipstick on a pig.
I mean, wha, don't you think you can win this election on the issues, without having to resort to distraction tactics? I guess not.
Stay classy, McCain and Palin.
