I don’t wanna be lonely baby, please tell me…

You ever hear one of those songs you haven't heard in a long time? One that, when it came out, you kinda liked, but nothing special... and now, upon hearing after a few years, you find that you really like the song? Much more than when it first came out? And now you have it on your heavy playlists, because you like it so much?

Happens to me all the time.

The most recent? Do You Believe in Love?, by Huey Lewis & the News. It's such a damned catchy song. I mean, how can you NOT sing along, even if it's just in your head?

Strangely, thought, I'm still not impressed by the video. What I am impressed with is that EMI America (among other music companies) have released videos like this on YouTube for free, rather than fighting the system. Sure, there's no embedding, but still, it's kinda nice to see (old music) videos on YouTube that aren't illegal.

Like this one from Nelson. And yanno, Love and Affection sounds like it'd be a good acoustic song, too (don't ask me what's up with the set and/or outfits, though. It was the early 90's. People were still getting over the 80's).

Even new artists like Avril Lavigne have gotten into putting (well, at least one) videos on YouTube... (see Girlfriend). I dunno. I guess I'm just happy to see someone in the music industry moving to ADAPT to the the changes the internet brings, rather than fighting them. (yeah, I know I talk about that all the time. don't worry. I'm done with that for now)

My latest thing? When I get sick of the music on my iPod, I'll search YouTube for tons of old 80's music/vids, put 'em all in one playlist, and listen to them in the background (in a minimized browser) while I work. Of course, when I know a funny part of a vid is coming, I'll switch over, but for the most part, I'll keep YouTube in the background.

Yes, I realize I have it backwards. Most people watch YouTube and have their work in the background. But not me. I'm a nonconformist. I'm a rebel.

Happy Hump Day!
