I love me some cheesy TV. I've mentioned before that I like the show
Las Vegas, despite the fact that it's gotten even hokier in the past few weeks. Like, bad. Movies and television are supposed to suspend disbelief, and make the impossible seem real. Well, last night,
Las Vegas went way,
way too far.
The part I hate most about
LV in general is when they use their computers to figure out suspects, look at pictures, zoom in here and there, blah blah blah. Call me a geek or whatever, but their computer usage is... well, it's just
wrong. First of all, I hate all the stupid beeps that TV computers do when they're thinking. Dude, I switch windows, broswers, whatever, and I don't hear a *beep boop beep beep*. Why do TV computers do this? It bugs me, really it does.
Secondly, their camera manipulation is... well, it's downright impossible. Like, last night, they took an image from a convenience store security cam and... OK, here's the whole situation. The security cam was looking at another monitor. Well, they took a security cam picture the monitor so that they could see the reflection in the glass, adjusted the brightness of that picture, then zoomed in on the background, where you could see the top of the Stratosphere (a hotel in Vegas). From there, they zoomed in even more, to the point where you could see the individual riders on the rollercoaster at the top of the Strat. Note: after all this zooming, the image was still
perfect.
Yeah. Right. Dude, that's not even
close to believable.
So, I was gonna give up on watching
Las Vegas, but next week guest stars the Pussycat Dolls, so I'll give it one more chance.

They do that on CSI
all the time. They even try to make techie conversation like "Enlarging picture three thousand bitpixelrate per jiggywhoosit line." Also, the printers still make noise while they print. Dude, you're the most elaborate crime lab on the west coast. Get a laserjet already.

You mean they really can't zoom in on low-quality surveilance camera footage to get minute details of the background? I totally thought that convenience stores had the most advanced technology. Boy, that show totally had me fooled.

lmao. I watched this show once, and it guest starred Mark McGrath. James Caan was all worried his wife was giving Mark the slap and tickle, when Mark and James' wife were really just planning his birthday party, which Mark was to sing at. How precious. Oh yeah, some crime stuff went on too.

Ummm yeah. Last night was the night I decided to give it a chance for my boyfriend. He gave wife swap a chance and I LV for him. I wanted to utter your exact words...it was redic.

as much as i know all that stuff is hokey on Las Vegas, i still like the show anyway. maybe i've been watching too much CSI lately, but it doesn't really bother me. and the rest of the show (read: Josh Duhamel) is so appealing that i'm not going to quit watching.

True, it's very hokey - but Josh Duhamel is on the show, so it's gotta be good!

even from the top of the stratosphere, you can't see the riders up close...cuz you have to be fucked up and downright drunk to even ride that damn rickety elevator to get up ther...stupid ass Stratosphere...an embarassment to us Vegas natives

I've only watched that show last week because my BFF Jay Mohr was on and I actually was embarrassed for him because the show was SO BAD. (And damn did he play that "loser" a little TOO good, or what?)

Alright, maybe the FBI and CIA can do that shit, but not those people!
Mmmm, Jay Mohr.

A friend of mine and I came up with the idea of MOS a few years ago. What's MOS? Movie Operating System. It's the OS that computers on TV and in movies use. It projects the display right on to the face of the user, plain english can be used in code, they never have to wait for PC's to boot, the 3-D graphical interface is amazing, they never crash, and image zooming is possible to microscopic levels.
