Just a few things...
- Have you heard of this new game show called Camouflage? It's on the Game Show Network, and it's hosted by Roger Lodge, and it's my favorite new game show. The premise is, you're given a group of letters and a clue, and the answer to the clue is hidden in the given letters. They're not scrambled or anything, but let me tell you... this game is tough. You know, the "fun" tough. But don't take my word for it - try it out for yourself. But, I warn you... if you're gonna play, be prepared for your brain to hurt, at least until you get the hang of it. (and even then, it might still hurt)
- Speaking of the Game Show Network, there's also a show on there called "Without Prejudice." It's part game show/reality show, and part social experiment.
The premise: five people, sequestered in the proverbial green room, reveal tidbits about themselves — their jobs, their beliefs, their love lives — to another five people, who sit in judgment of them along with the show’s host, the psychotherapist Robi Ludwig.
...
The wrinkle, such as it is: The contestants don’t have to do anything but be themselves (or whatever version of themselves they’re willing to project on television). It’s up to the panelists to vote them off gradually and eventually pick a winner of that $25,000 check, based solely on their appearances and their answers to questions from the producers and the panel. [full article]
Now, it may not sound like much, but it's really interesting to watch people's prejudices come into play. The first contestant is eliminated by looks alone. There's a round of learning more about the remaining contestants, and then another elimination. Basically, you keep learning more and more about each contestand as the eliminations go on, and the final two actually get to meet and be questioned by the judges. It's like the elimination round for a reality show, except for 90 minutes straight. It might be a bit long for some people, but if you like social experiments and you have DVR, you might want to give this show a try. - On a totally different note, I went to IKEA today to get some blinds. I don't know what was going on, but for some reason, the place was packed with... good looking women. Seriously, there was hotness everywhere. And it wasn't just the back to school, getting stuff for college, young nublie crowd. There were also a ton of hot 30-somethings and 40-somethings, too. And maybe two or three other guys besides me. It was kinda weird.
Oh, come on. Like you don't notice if you're out and there's an unusually large preponderance of hot people there. And I mean in a "normal" place, not at, say, the beach, where you would expect such a crowd. - Did I just lose everybody there? I mean, who the hell cares if I saw a ton of hot women at IKEA during the middle of the day? See, this is why I don't blog all the time - because you'll get crap like that. Oh, and did I mention that I had a sandwich for lunch?
Seriously, I didn't have a sandwich - that's just the insider blogger joke, yanno? I just went to Costco (right across from IKEA) and got a cheapo (but good) hot dog and drink for $1.75 or whatever it costs.
