Hey, while we're on the subject of weird bodily functions that you can't control... have you ever sneezed so hard that you saw stars? You know, stars... or tracers. What causes that? I think I looked it up once, but it was some long, drawn out explanation full of technical jargon. I just want an explanation in layman's terms, like "Your eyes were shaken loose" or something like that. Or, is there no easy way to explain it?
Oh yeah, one more thing. OK, there's this local trucking company, C&M. They've got their logo plastered all over their trucks and mudflaps. No big deal, except for the fact that, at a distance or at a glance, the ampersand doesn't quite look like an ampersand. Here, check it out for yourself - it's the first picture on this page. (I'd link the picture directly, but then you wouldn't get the "at a glance" perspective) I just wonder if that was done on purpose.
The other day, I was talking to Jo, and she was talking about lemon trees and orange trees. I mentioned that I think it's really odd that people have fruit trees in like, their yards n' stuff. And then it dawned on me - I'm the odd one. I'm the one who grew up in state that doesn't have fruit bearing trees. As far as I knew, fruit came from the store. Sure, I knew they grew on trees, but I had never really seen fruit trees until I was 18. I always figured fruit trees were all on farms or in specific places, and not just, oh... everywhere.
Please keep in mind, I also thought it was weird when I saw my first fireworks display in the lower 48 (that's the Alaska term for "the continental US). I thought it was odd that they started the show at 9:30 or so. Hey, where I grew up, they didn't start the fireworks shows until well after midnight. I think I remember them starting at like, 2am or so. Again, I guess I'm the odd one.
I suppose I should be talking about last night's Emmy Awards. But, nah. We missed the first hour, and the second hour was pretty much a snoozapalooza. The tribute to Dick Clark was touching, though. It made me wish I could go back and watch some American Bandstand. And then I thought... "Now there was some good, clean fun. That would never fly in today's TV world." And now, I've got the theme from "American Bandstand" stuck in my head.
Also worth noting from last night... Katherine Heigl. Damn.
