When bad dogs won't fight, there's one man who's your best friend.
Michael Vick.
"No dog is too much for me to handle. I train fighting dogs, and if they don't fight, I kill them. I am the Dog Murderer."
(not a real quote - I was just paraphrasing the intro to The Dog Whisperer)
So, it seems like Vick and some of his pals were
indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of competitive dogfighting, procuring and training pit bulls for fighting, and conducting the enterprise across state lines. Not only that, but if the dogs wouldn't fight (or, "not ready" to fight), then they were killed by electrocution, hanging, and one dog was even killed by just being repeatedly slammed to the ground. Can you fucking believe that? Throwing a living creature to the ground over and over until it's dead. That is some seriously fucked up shit.
Let's hope that he's in prison for a long time. Let's hope that this guy never gets a chance to play in the NFL again. Let's hope that some dog loving prison gang slams Vick and his friends repeatedly to the ground.

I hadn't read all those details yet... and I'm sorry I did. That is just sick. Especially reading it today, the day we had to put our dog down (old age)... it just really hits a nerve.

That guy needs to go away for a really long, long time. So do his friends.

I've been riled up about this all day. All.Friggin'.Day.
I cannot comprehend the mind that would think that any of that behavior is OK. I cannot comprehend what people are thinking then they defend him by saying "it's just a few dogs." I cannot comprehend any of it. And quite frankly, I don't wanna. It all makes me sick...

You are one of my favorite bloggers and I rarely disagree with the things you say BUT has the Duke case not tought our society anything? Sure, the evidence building in this case against Vick looks outstanding and if he did these awful things to dogs, may the punishment be swift and harsh but he is inocennt until PROVEN guilty. Seems like we live in a world where as long as the charged are considered guilty in the court of public opinion, then the people leading the charge have won....

Despite the jokes we all make at Vick's expense, I'll be waiting for the court's verdict before passing judgment. I guess I have a soft spot for professional athletes. And also the legal system, especially after watching A Few Good Men. Tom Cruise was bad-ass in that one.

I'm sorry Darren, but this is totally different than the Duke case. Federal Investigators. Testimony from an inside guy (rather than a stripper). Evidence found at the home that Vick owns that was used for the breeding/fighting/killing. Vick is just dirty.

Yeah, I don't think this is going to add up like the Duke case at all. There was a prosecutor who has since been disbarred for all the bullshit he did. One of the things that comes from making millions from the public is having the public comment on what happens in your life.
The behavior described on the property he owns is beyond despicable. It is frightening that there are people who get pleasure from seeing dogs fight to the death.

Ok, my point wasnt to say that this was exactly like the Duke case, because you're right there are many differences. However, there used to be a practice in this country called "innocent until proven guilty" and that doesn't seem to exist anymore. If its proven in a court of law that he did these things, then and only then will I want him to be crucified. From what I am reading on the net, i feel like people already want him locked up and the key thrown away without having had his fair trial...

I've not read the info on this piece of news but I think Darren makes a good point. We don't know all the facts, do we?
But, what's been described is pretty sickening.

If we are sure he is guilty, why wait for a trial with all that courtroom bullcrap and a chance for him to weasle out if this...someone take him down now...

Hey, I'm all about "innocent until proven guilty," but come on. The guy's not acting like an innocent man. Hell, he's got the attitude of "Hey, they're just dogs. What's the big deal?"
And, I never said that I was certain that he was guilty or would be found guilty in court... but he's certainly
dirty, either way. There's a difference. Even if Michael Vick didn't actually participate in the activities in that house, he certainly
knew about them, and didn't do anything.
So, yeah. He's not guilty right now. But he's certainly dirty. But hey, Michael Jackson was never found guilty of child molestation... does that mean that you'd trust your kids with him?

Very good point with the Michael Jackson comment and you are right, no I would not willingly drop my son off with him.
The only reason I went off on this was because of the line "Let's hope that he's in prison for a long time"..
Still love this place though!!!

Haha. . .yea, hell no Michael Jackson would not be allowed around my kids!
Oh well, you're right, he's probably guilty. Down with the dog killer!!

That's just disgusting. I can't stand people who mistreat animals. There's a special place in Hell reserved for them.

I read about this, and was sad and angry... then to cheer myself up (ha!) I read about the two fifteen year old girls who are accused of setting a kitten on fire, for laughs. What a friggin lovely world we live in, huh?

People who abuse animals like that should be caned. Or shot. Sickens me.

Look, I think the innocent-until-guilty thing is great in concept. But when you get guys with $100 MILLION dollar contracts who have more money than is even fathomable to a normal human being, they tend to get out of anything they're accused of. (OJ, Michael Jackson, etc.) So while innocent-until-guilty is the ideal, fair trials are also an ideal that do not really get realised when people with incomes like this are brought into court.
As far as I'm concerned, everyone even remotely involved in this whole scandal needs to be executed in the exact manners in which the dogs were killed.
