Reason #7,919

Yet another reason I hate my job. Maybe some of you might know what I'm talking about.

Scene One: the assignment

Boss-type dude: Hey Mike, I need this report by 4pm today.
Me: OK. It'll be tough, because there's a lot of extra work that goes into that report, and I'll have to drop everything that I'm currently working on, but I can do it.

Scene Two: 4pm

Me: OK, I worked my ass off, but I finished that report that [Boss-type dude] wanted. Where is he?
Boss-type dude's assistant: Oh, he's gone for the day, and he'll be gone tomorrow, so I'll make sure that it gets to him first thing Wednesday morning.
Me: Gee, thanks.

Luckily, it was just a Monday-Wednesday thing this time. Usually, when I get assignments like that, it's Friday. And usually, there's more behind-the-scenes work. And, of course, usually, I'll end up staying late, only to discover that the shit isn't needed until Monday or Tuesday. So, I suppose I should be thankful that I didn't have to stay late.

On a side note, 7,919 happens to be the 1,000th smallest prime number.
Did you at least get the memo about putting the cover sheets on all the TPS Reports BEFORE they go out?
GRRRR! I can RELATE. Except, I'm paranoid that the gov't is tracking my keystrokes, so I won't talk about it. You know, because "the man" sees all! Paranoia, anyone?
Oh...so that's not just here that that happens? Interesting. People are inconsiderate on both coasts you say? Hmmm...I wonder about all the middle parts.
oh yeah. i'm way too familiar with this one. hell, i got a variation of it this afternoon and while the supervisor got to leave at 3pm i was at the stupid office till 5:30. which doesn't seem like it's late at all but i get in at 7am. i'm supposed to leave at 3:30. ugh
Ouch. That hurts. I've had times recently when I had to get things done in a way too tight timeline, but fortunately, my boss didn't just disappear. A few weeks ago, I decided that maybe I'd try to take a half day on a Friday. Things kept coming up and kept coming up until I finally left at 4:30. I had been home for less than an hour when my cell phone rang and I had to go back in to write a report. I ended up not leaving until after 8:30. My boss, however, was there the whole time as was my boss's boss's boss who came back from home to approve the report that I was writing.

Nice to see I'm not the only one that chooses prime numbers for things like this. I did something similar a while back, only I think I use the 100th prime number.
