Hey Freak!

Random thought

Sometimes I get these random thoughts...

Like, for instance:

OK, imagine a world where humans never evolved (sorry, creationists, evolution is REAL... if you don't believe it, just ask Mr. Swine Flu), and say, elephants became the dominant species of the world. They're pretty smart already, so that's not much of a stretch. Anyways, so elephants are the dominant species... so, what would their computers look like? What would their cars (vehicles) look like? Would they wear clothes?

Like I said... random.

Happy Friday!
It's not likely that they would develop any level of technology that required the use of tools. They simply are not equipped for tool use more complex than roughly grasping a club.

I believe dolphins and whales are more intelligent than elephants, some say they approach human intelligence, and they have no technology at all.

However, it might be interesting to determine what a computer built by others for the use of an intelligent elephant might be.

One, either Elephant Eyeglasses would need to be designed, or the monitor would need to be very large. Elephants have poor vision.

Two, the keyboard would need very large keypads as the only means they have of manipulating the keyboard would be the end of their trunk.

I don't know if they would prefer to sit or stand. That would depend upon which position would be more comfortable. And if they sat, would it be in a chair or on the floor?

What I wonder is...since humans evolved and rose to the top of the "food chain" based on intelligence and mental capacity, how far might mental development have gone should humans not also been physically suited for complex tool usage?

It seems that our need for mental evolution diminished when we were able to insure our survival by the use of advanced tools.

Would what might be called PSI powers have developed? Might we have gained more wisdom along the way? How could we live without beer?
I sometimes wonder what the world would be like if we never wore clothes. What if we were all just walking around naked? Nudity wouldn't be a big deal at all, rather the norm. Do you think that magazines like Playboy would exist? Because they're just filled with naked women. Who would pay to see naked women when EVERYONE is naked?

And I also sometimes wonder what it would be like if dogs had opposable thumbs? Would they be able to grab a beer out of the fridge?
You're back to blogging! I know I'm just catching on after a month but, like, whoa!

I keep going back to blogging for a week then stopping again. Then I go back, then stop. I write something juicy then only post it as private. I'm wishy washy like that.

I'll add you back into my regular rotation of blogs I read. Although that rotation has gotten pretty small in the last year. I think you and I are not the only ones to need a break or two or ten.
Oh, and if elephants were the dominant species, I don't think they'd have computers. Or maybe they would. Necessity is the mother of invention and all that. I can't picture even the smartest elephant needing to send email, blog, check out porn, whatever.

But I can picture and elephant driving and it's a pretty silly looking picture where it's trunk turns the wheel and it's ears signal to turn.
Sounds kind of like "Super Mario Brothers" but instead of evolving from dinosaurs you're choosing elephants.... hmmmm..... (Remember the scene where Dennis Hopper as King Koopa de-evolves to T-Rex?)
Was it anything like this?

Given the fact that several human species have evolved and died out in the wake of Home Sapiens, it is likely that perhaps other species have or will evolve our level of intelligence.

Elephants do have the ability to grasp and to use tools. Their trunk can actually pick up smaller objects easier than our human fingers. Would they be able to learn farming some day? Maybe. Some species of ants farm, why not elephants? If they start farming, that would be the start of civilization.
I'm told that Picasso said something to the effect of if cows and bulls could paint and draw that they would paint and draw cows and bulls not people.

Is that relevant? Probably not.
I think a lot of things, especially right now. I have just consumed a hearty meal of Chinese food with enough monosodium glutamate to sedate an elephant. To compensate, I've been having Mountain Dew and coffee and chocolate. I am, therefore, wide asleep and fast awake.
Everyone at high school has to look through your good enough issue referring to this good topic to create the great quality essay or even poetry & poets essay.
