Somewhere in Bizarro world, Richard Grieco is busy filming the much-anticipated sequel to
Pirates of the Caribbean, while Johnny Depp is pitching a
Booker movie to Dreamworks.
Caribbean. OK, is it kah-RIB-bee-uhn? Or CARE-uh-BE-uhn? Unlike tomato/tomah-to, I think most people use both pronunciations, depending on the situation. The movie is Pirates of the CARE-uh-BE-uhn, and I'd like to take a vacation in the kah-RIB-bee-uhn. Let's call the whole thing off.
OK,
Jo is only five years younger than I. Not that much of a difference. So how is it that she's gone through life without knowing what Chuck Woolery's "two and two" hand gesture means? We'll be back in two and two. I thought everybody knew that!
Today, I saw a woman on a corner holding a campaign sign. You see, there's a special Mayoral election coming up here in San Diego. Anyways, this woman was proudly showing off her sign with the name of her choice for mayor. Either that, or it was just a bold statement. The candidate's name?
Dick Rider.
OK, maybe he goes by 'Richard.' Still, it was funny seeing a woman walking around with a "Rider for Mayor" sign. At 7:30am, no less.
I got another one of those "God take back America!" email forwards today... you know, where they say "90% of the country believes in God (or whatever the percentage), so we need to take back the country and found it on religious values." Whatever. It's not like that 90% all believes in the
same God. Some people believe in the God that allows you to have multiple wives, and then force your pre-teen daughters to marry you. Some people believe in the God that hates fags. I'm assuming he also hates lesbians. And then, there are some people who believe in the God that loves everybody. So, which God should we follow?
Tell you what. When you get all 90% of God-believers believing in the exact same God, then I'll consider converting. Just consider.
Fine, fine. Lighter notes, and all.
Now that I think about it, Richard Grieco probably wouldn't make a bad pirate...
Oh shit. I almost forgot...
OK. Ready? It's sing-along time! Here. Download
this first. OK, ready?
.
Whee! And yes, I paraphrased in there. TPS reports are funnier that status call reports.

Hey I'm 25 and I am well-versed in the Woolery "2 and 2" thing...blame it on all the game shows I watched in the 80s, combined with the Game Show Network!
Oh and BTW, my bf is the son of Richard Rider, no joke. Hehe, suffice it to say, they've all heard the "Dick Rider" joke a bunch. Although I suppose it didn't help that another time he ran for office, he put that name on his signs. Not surprisingly, they all went "missing" (college dorm rooms perhaps?)
He DOES have a blog though!

I'm with ya - I thought every knew the 2 & 2 thing!
I think "kah-RIB-bee-uhn" is a west coast thing and "CARE-uh-BE-uhn" is an east coast/midwest thing. Kind of like Oregon: or-EE-gone (east) and oar-GUN (west).
Where has Ore gone boys? If you want Alaska (I'll ask her).
Or something like that...

Um, what is the two/two thing? And who is Chuck Woolry? What did I miss?

Chuck Woolery was the former husband of Jo Ann Pflug, Lt. Dish from MASH, the movie.
BTW, I never inhaled.

People in this world do not know who Chuck Woolery is? Holy crap. Someone stop me before I bring this nation to a screeching halt and hold an emergency seminar on Pop Culture 101.

Oh, and those who push for religious rule of the nation would be making a grave mistake. Whether that religion is "good" or "valid" or "popular" is irrelevant. History has shown that every single empire that has desecularized their government has collapsed under the corruption it caused. Romans. The British. Everyone. Grab a book, look it up yourself.
They say those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it, right? Keep God in your life and out of your government and you'd do just fine.

Contray to popular belief, the majority does not rule in this country.
The constitution and the bill of rights are in place to insure the rights of the minorities are not violated by the majority.
On August 19th, 1934, 95% of the Germans registered to vote went to the polls and 90% of them voted to give Hitler complete and total power to rule Germany as he saw fit.
Sounds like the same 90% to me.

Hey, I had no idea you were that old, Mikey! For some reason, I thought you guys were the same age. You and Joelle are the same ages as me and Paul. Little trivia there. Hope the unpacking is going well!
