open call for deer crossing signs

I'm making this a sticky entry.

I have something to ask of all U.S. residents: take a picture of a deer crossing sign in your state and send it to me (or post it on Flickr and give me the link). Oh yeah, and don't forget to tell me where (in which state) you took the picture. WI people especially - I need a picture of your deer crossing signs. Chicago people? Next time you're up there, like at the Dells or something, find a deer crossing sign and take a picture, please. And yanno, while you're up there, you may as well take a picture of the "Bong Recreation Area" sign, too. Just because, well... it's funny.

Here's an example of a "normal" deer crossing sign, as we're all used to seeing: [here]. WI signs look different (well, at least they used to).

A-HA! There is least one other blogger who's noticed that WI deer crossing signs are different [read post]. See? I'm not crazy. But, we still need a sign as proof.

And yanno what? I think a lot of people are having fun with this, so... what the hell... let's make a collection of any kind of crossing sign that's funny. Bear crossing. Deer crossing. Illegal immigrant crossing. And not just crossing signs. Falling rock signs are usually pretty funny. We'll get a collection together, and I'll make a bigass post, and we'll all have a bunch of laughs.
I'll ask my sister for ya, Bong is practally in her back yard.
I don't have a photo, but in Oregon this weekend, we saw a typical Deer sign, but instead, it said "Elk" with no illustration. Like they couldn't find someone to illustrate it. Odd stuff.
I'm not even gonna ask. lol.
There used to be one between Madison and Milwaukee (WI) that had a red dot stuck to the nose. I'll have to pass it later this week and see if it's still there...
Im not sure if massachusetts has deer crossing signs....but I'll keep my eyes open..heh.
Bahahahaha! Jen. That may have been one of mine. I also did a couple going up 90 from Madison towards the Dells. cool grin
I don't think there is deer in Florida...? Or if there are I've never seen a sign. But I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya.

Does Armadillo Crossing count?
I have a pictures of the Ho Chunk Casino sign in the Dells. I don't know why, but makes me laugh every time I drive by it.
I'm not sure if you "need" to have the actual pictures from a person, to do whatever it is you are doing, but you could obtain images of these signs by looking for the MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) for each state. Each state normally publishes it's own MUTCD, which correlates with the FHWA's (Federal Highway Administration) MUTCD.

Just an option smile
I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan & I constantly see deer crossing signs. There aren't too many areas you can drive up here without one of the dirty bastards jumping out in front of you. It's very possible I may be able to come up with Cow, Turkey, and Duck Crossing signs, too.
Ok, been to your site now...have I officially been everywhere yet? Cool site btw.
I'm headed to upstate, NY on Thursday. I'll have tons of them. I won't be able to flckr them til I get back next week, but I'll send you one from my camera phone.
Is it this one? [link]
damn. nope, that's not the one I'm thinking of. grrrrr somebody's gotta have some kind proof of this!
hilarious! i will definitely try to remember to do this.
I'm telling you, I think one is a whitetail deer and one is a bull elk.
Will a moose crossing sign work? Apparently that's what we have up here in Maine -- moose.
Here's some Bong for ya...I didn't happen to take any Deer Crossing signs up there though....I do have a pretty funny one that is "anatomically correct" in between Au Claire and Minneapolis...apparently those Wisconsin people have nothing better to do wink
Hi i'm retarded and don't know how to [link] right...

Funny my word is "confusion" how fitting lol
I'm driving through the Dells on my way to Chicago next weekend...if I see it I'll take the picture for you. By the way, our deer signs in MN are like your deer signs...I didn't know they were any different.
why in the world ..........ok i won't ask. and i had no idea so many people from here lived in wisconsin. (and they are all jenny's LOL) ok not all of them. anyway...i'll take my camera to work today and if i see any on the way i'll snap. although, they look like the one you have posted so i'm not sure why you'd need the same one haha. oh and by the way...my word to typs in is BRA. *raises one eyebrow*
I finally saw one last night, but I was going too fast to stop and get a picture. Anyway, St Louis is the same as the one you posted.

You aren't talking about this are you?
nah, that's not it, either. it was definitely a deer crossing.

maybe they've changed their signs? i dunno. all i know is that WI, at the very least, used to have fat deer crossing signs. i'm still looking...
