Since I gave you a glimpse at Christians' Science Textbook, I figured I may as well show you
The 100 Greatest Quotes from Fundamentalist Christian Chat Rooms. I'm sorry, I know I shouldn't make fun of people, but it's hard to resist when they show this level of ignorance.
Cases in point:
"
Evolution says that we started out simple, and over time became more complex. That just isn't possible: UNLESS there is a giant outside source of energy supplying the Earth with huge amounts of energy. If there were such a source, scientists would certainly know about it." [
link]
I was up all night trying to figure out what this energy source could be. Finally, it dawned on me.
(OK, I totally stole that line from
Stan #4771. It was too funny to pass up.)
"
Gravity: Doesn't exist. If items of mass had any impact of others, then mountains should have people orbiting them. Or the space shuttle in space should have the astronauts orbiting it. Of course, that's just the tip of the gravity myth." [
link]
"The Gravity Myth." Ah, yes. I fell for that once.
But wait, there's more from that guy.
"
I believe is going on here is this: These objects in space have yet to receive mans touch, and thus have no sin to weigh them down. This isn't the case for earth, where we see the impact of transfered sin to material objects. The more sin, the heavier something is." [
link]
Really? No wonder it's so hard to lose weight.
And this one... this one makes me sad for the boy, but I can't help but laugh at the parents' naïveté...
"
I am a bit troubled. I believe my son has a girlfriend, because she left a dirty magazine with men in it under his bed. My son is only 16 and I really don't think he's ready to date yet. What's worse is that he's sneaking some girl to his room behind my back. I need help, God! I want my son to stop being so secretive!" [
link]
Like I said. Sad for the boy.
But, hey. Maybe they're not ignorant. Maybe *I* am the one who's the dumbass. Then again, gravity exists in my world, so... believe who you want to believe, I guess.
Happy Monday!

Omigod! I feel so horrible for that kid. If I believed in god would pray for him. But for real, he has a rough stretch of life ahead of him, it would seem.

I veel very niave. I have always knows many religious folks tend to favor Faith over Logic, but I never thought it could be this severe.
Honestly, I still am having trouble believing some of these quotes are not jokes or plants to make religious folks look bad....especially the one about gravity and evolution.
Even the Catholics have a theological philosophy that anything science can prove can we worked into their believes. They even have a sect, the Jesuits, to do scientific research so they can stay ahead of the curve.
It does mean they have to forgo a literal translation of the bible, but I had thought that almost everyone had come to realize that was necessary to even slightly reconcile religious beliefs with the real world.
The depth of their self deception and hyporacy (post claiming Atheists are worthless and/or should be slaughtered and others protraying Athiests as folks who would do that to Christians) both astounds and frightens me
Again, I feel very niave.
Mikey, I remember feeling you were being a bit over the top when you mentioned that a Great Evil has left the Earth at the death of Jerry Fallwell, but I must say I was mistaken and that you might have understated the situation.
For a look at what "Athiests" can have for moral values, check out Secular Humanists.
Take care..and may Someone save us from religion.

I recently spoke to someone that I once knew about the gravity myth. I was kinda shocked. I listened to their arguments and I couldn't come up with anything because out of all the people that I knew that I believed would grow up to be a scientist, it would have been this guy. And here he is arguing against gravity. I was speechless. Just shocked and stunned and without words. Gravity myth...

I disagree. . .you should make fun of people because some people are IDIOTS!

Yeah, that energy source supplying massive amounts of energy to the Earth? Yeah, it's called The Sun.
Not to mention the fact that the assumption that simple things can only become more complex things with massive amounts of energy is erroneous.
