Meat in a cone

So, the San Diego County Fair has been going on for a few weeks...

I'm not a big "fair" person, but I'm definitely going this year. The weather's been nice (if not a little on the hot side), and you just can't beat the county fair if you like people-watching. But if you've watched anything about the fair on the local news, you'd think that the best thing about the fair is... all the weird crap food that they have. You know, like deep fried burgers, or mac and cheese (deep fried) on a stick. Seriously. People throw some weird shit together and just sell it as food... and, no big surprise, people love that shit. Now, I'm not like, a big healthy eater or something like that, but seriously, just thinking about some of that "food" makes my arteries hurt.

Anyway.

So, I've done some thinking about this... why hasn't anyone capitalized on the popularity of "There's Something About Mary" and sold some meat in a cone? Seriously, think about this... you'd get a big waffle cone, and then a selection of meats. Like at the deli. A cone with some thinly sliced roast beef actually doesn't sound all repulsive. Or how about this? Maybe a Philly cheesesteak in a cone? Or a gyro in a cone? Come on, it doesn't sound that horrible, does it? So why hasn't anyone tried this out?

OK, maybe those things don't sound that good. Maybe if they were deep-fried...
This reminds me of a George Carlin routine....could be meat, could be cake. It's meatcake!

Everything and anything. On a stick. Deep fried.
Yes, my favorite thing is how everything comes ON A STICK! Hot dog on a stick, cheesecake on a stick, strawberries on a stick, EVERYTHING!! I avoid most of the weird stuff, but you just can't miss some things...like funnel cake!

I also love the people watching, and I also admit to totally loving the craft displays, where people submit the scrapbooks and knitted items and wood carvings and needlepoint and other random crafty things. The table arrangements are also interesting.

I've never been to the SD Fair, but I always go to the OC one.
Ok, this is totally odd but the place we used to go to to get gyros served them in a cone. I guess they were just a head of their time, since it was the early 80's. The funny thing is the store across the mall sold Sanrio stuff, and I always wanted everything. Back when malls were cool, now I feel old.
I'm not so much a fan of cones. More of thingsyou can cover with cheese - pretzels, fries, nachos?

The possibilities are endless!

P.S. Hi, Twitter? Why didn't I see you had this before? Adding you right now!
I was thinking about that at the Valleycats baseball game the other day (after reading your post and mentioning it to the Gent). Pretzel cones. Of meat. Could totally be done. I should get my own cart and call it "Coniferous" lol.

Patent dibs!
Mmmmm... meat in a cone.

You know, that doesn't actually sound that bad.

Better than fried mac and cheese (who on earth came up with that one? What where they thinking? DUH.)
