It's been a few weeks since I've learned anything, so I'm counting on you folks to give me some good ones. Here are a few things I know:
- I know that Arizona State is still alive in the Men's NIT after beating Southern Illinois in the second round. Go Devils!
- I know that ladybugs eat, among other things, aphids. I know this after wondering for months why I see bags of ladybugs for sale at The Home Depot. I finally looked it up.
I know that the Uni-ball pen (the kind that's kinda wide with a squishy grip) is endorsed by Secure Document Expert Frank W. Abagnale, Jr. Mr. Abagnale is credited with inventing and implementing the watermarking system (you know, that little "lock") you see on checks that's now an industry standard.
He's probably better known as "the guy who Leonardo DiCaprio played in Catch Me If You Can."
- Speaking of people who've had movies made about them... I know that Adrian Cronauer (of "Good Morning, Vietnam" fame) was in the movie "Street Fighter" (or, at least he's credited as such). What the hell?
In case you're wondering, yes, I watched "Street Fighter." Last night. Well, the UCLA/Miss. Valley St. game was boring as hell. Plus, I wanted to see just how bad the movie was. Trust me when I tell you - it was bad. But I'll admit, I did laugh pretty hard once or twice. "Quick! Change the channel!" Yeah, that was pretty funny.
- I know that I love stories like this: Dolphin rescues stranded whales. Oddly enough, the dolphin was named "Lassie."
OK, I made that last part up. His name is really "Moko." Well, that's what the residents call him.
- And finally... I know it didn't happen on this exact date, but the Good Friday earthquake of 1964 (March 27) in Alaska was the largest in North American (recorded) history. It had an (adjusted) magnitude of 9.2 on the Richter Scale, and the shaking lasted for over four minutes.
So. What do you know?

I know my boyfriend and I (of 9+ years) are going through a 30 day "get our crap together" separation. (My idea.) We are on day 4 of being separated and it's proving harder than I thought! Yeah, I don't really know what I was thinking...

I know that the religious celebration of St. Patrick's Day in Ireland was moved for this year by the Catholic Church. It was changed from the 17th to the 15th so as not to interfere with Holy Week.
I also know that this has not happened since 1940 and should not happen again until 2160.

I know that the dinosaurs that were used in Pee Wee's Big Adventure are located in Cabazon, California and it is a rather pleasant drive away from the LA area.
I also knew some stuff from the SD Zoo but I have forgotten it. But it was cool...dammit!
I also know that my dogs need to go out and pee too much. Like, right now. They need to pee. They just went at 1:00ish! Dang!

I know that I know all kinds of SB trivia and was sad you weren't doing this for awhile so that I couldn't share any more!

I know that the term "Private Eye" came from the Pinkerton logo which included an open eye and the phrase "We Never Sleep." I always thought it was shortened from private investigator and just changed to "eye." I learned that in my History of the American Murder Mystery class I am taking.
I know I moved blogs because my stepdaughters found out I had one. Yikes!
I also know I forgot a lot of shit while you were gone.

The word "trivia" comes from Roman times, when they had areas for posting information in the middle of the intersection when three roads met. Hence, tri (three) and via (road or way).
The phrases "give him the third degree", "blackballed", and "get a square deal" all come from Freemasonry. I can't tell you more about them, though, because it's secret...
The truely safest method of travel (other than walking, which really shouldn't ocunt) isn't flying. It's travelling via hovercraft. I forget where I read that though.

I know that Elvis' "Heartbreak Hotel" was inspired from a suicide note.
I know you're not supposed to inhale cigar smoke, cause that is UBER bad; you're just supposed to "puff" on it. (well you probably already knew that, but I learned that today)
I know that Kebabs a.k.a "Shish Kabobs" come from Turkey (where my mom is from, yay!)
I know that it is good to eat eggs when you have a hangover because it releases certain antioxidants that are good for your liver.

I know Buddy Epson (Jed Clampett) was originally supposed to play the Tin Man in the Wizard of Oz, but was allergic to the silver face paint.
I know I want to relocate to somewhere near the ocean.
I know life shouldn't be this hard.
