OK, so last week, I made a post asking people
what do you know?. And I learned some stuff. So now, I want to know more. Hell, I want to make this a weekly thing. Yeah, I'm sure some people will get bored of it, but not me. Hey, who doesn't like to trade trivia?
So, what do I know?
I know that Alaska is
by far the largest state in the US (followed by TX, CA, MT, and AZ). I know that Indianapolis is the only state capitol whose name contains the state in which it resides (Indiana). I know that, for a few years, the opening theme for the old sitcom "Three's Company" was filmed at the San Diego Zoo. And that, consequently, the theme for Three's Company always pops into my head when we goto the zoo.
Come and knock on our door... take a step that is new...
Oh. Sorry about that... anyway...
So, I know that the Komodo Dragon is the world's largest lizard. I know that the platypus is the world's only poisonous mammal. I know that polar bear skin is actually black. And I know that when pandas are born in zoos, it's customary
not to name them until they're 100 days old.
So, people... what do you know?

I know that no one is sure of where the term 'Hoosier' derives.
I know that Purdue Boilermakers nickname is not from an alcoholic beverage. It comes from Purdue Engineer's designing boilers for steam engines in the 1800's. It was first used in 1891 as a nickname for a Purdue athletic team.

I know that when tri-colored Beagles are born they are mostly black and white and you just have to guess where the brown will come in.
And I know that I know lots of other stuff until questions like this are asked and then my brain shuts down and says "nope...you don't know shit."

The length of the hypotenuse side of a right angle triangle is equal to the square root of the sum of the squares of the lengths of the other two sides.
Black holes actually are detectable. When a matched particle/anti-particle pair pop into existence (yes, matter does just pop into existence from time to time!) near enough to the event horizon such that one of the particles gets pulled into the black hole and the other escapes, that escaped particle is "radiation" that can be detected.
A group of geese on the ground is a gaggle. When they're flying, they're a skein.
There are no words in the English language that rhyme with: silver, purple, orange.

I know that polar bear liver contains such high levels of Vitamin A that it is toxic to humans. Eating it can cause symptoms ranging from drowsiness and headaches to your skin peeling off of your body. Eat enough of it and you will die.
Happy Friday!

I know a couple of things:
1. Medical students practice abortion technique using papayas because they're the general shape of a uterus and have seeds to aspirate.
2. You make butter by letting cream come to room temperature and then putting in the mixer with a whisk attachment for about 15-20 minutes.
3. When skydiving, lowering your right shoulder and arm while in typical freefall position will make you do spins to the right.
There you go.

Actually technically "bookkeeping" also has the same pairs of letters, but is a slightly different word!
I know that typewriter is the longest word you can type using only the top row of keys on a qwerty keyboard.
I know that had I known you were gonna do this weekly I wouldn't have wasted so many answers on the first week!

I learned today that New Zealand has no poisonous bugs.
I know that the State of California totally screwed me over in my taxes but that's more of a personal factoid. Still, it burns me up. :D
Happy Friday!

I know just about anything you care to ask about Charlie Brown, Snoopy & the Peanuts gang. "M" in Charles M. Schulz stands for Monroe. The Little Red Haired Girl never appeared in any of the strips. Snoopy started out walking on ALL FOUR legs!
Someone mentioned a song above me and it reminded me - 29 Palms by Robert Plants was written about Alannah Myles (Black Velvet chick).
Arkansas is the only state with diamonds.
If we are going to do this every week, I'd better stash some of what I know!

I know that the length of a person's forearm (from elbow to wrist) is equal to the size of his/her feet. In connection the height of a person is equal to the length of his/her outstretched arm - from the tip of the middle of one hand right across the chest to the tip of the middle finger of the other hand. Also, the circumference of one's neck is half of his/her waist.

Speaking of fairy tales- Little Red Riding Hood is believed to originally be a tale of a girl's right of passage(walk in the woods) to womanhood. From little girl, first period, childbearing age(her mom) to post-menopause(her grandmother). Early versions have no red hood, no woodsman and the little girl is seduced by the wolf(male predator)whom she kills. Later versions end with she and her grandmother both dead explaining kids should never follow strangers.
Only domestic cats truly purr.
And I sneeze 3+ times at least 95% of the time.

I know that a group of crows is called a murder.
I know that redheads are supposed to bleed more and require more pain medication than other people.
I know that redheads are predicted to be extinct in 100 years. I know I will not be helping this not become a reality.
Like Christy, I know I'd better stash some of my knowledge (or pay attention to new factoids) if this is to be a weekly event.

Oklahoma's state capital also contains the name of the state. Oklahoma City.

D'oh! Good call, Daisy. When I first heard the question (way back when), there was a qualifier in there, one that I must have forgotten, that made it so that Indianapolis was the only correct answer.
But here? Yeah, you got me. OKC.
