The last time I bought gas before today, it cost me $2.79.9 a gallon. Pretty damned high, don't you think? That was probably five days ago or so. At the most, it was a week ago.
So, you can imagine my surprise when I went to get gas today, and I had to pay $3.11.9 a gallon.
Now, the station I was at is notorious for having prices that are a little but still noticeably higher than most other places. So I looked at the prices at the station by our apartment, which usually has about average gas prices. There, it was $3.09.9 a gallon. Not a big difference at all.
I should note now that these aren't "premium" prices. These are the "regular" unleaded (87 octane) prices.
Did I miss something? When did gas prices decide to jump? And how come nobody's making an issue of it? I certainly haven't seen anything in the newspapers...
Don't get me wrong. I'm not shocked that gas is over three dollars a gallon... I'm just shocked that more people aren't pissed.
Let's do this again... how much is gas where you live?

I saw something on CNN this morning about the average price going up by 10 cents this past week... and to expect higher prices for the summer blah blah blah. Basically the same thing they said about the winter. But, yeah, it was $2.85 on NAB Coronado a few days ago.

I live in east Texas and it was $2.82 today. It just gets higher and higher. No sense in getting mad about it when you can't live without it you'll pay whatever they charge.

In mid-Michigan our prices have been jumping back and forth overnight between 2.6x to 2.7x for the past two weeks. Mostly in .10 increments so one day it's 2.62 and the next it's over 2.70 and back again.
I filled up last night for 2.67 but expect it is higher again today. I'm not going to be suprised when it goes over $3 just in time for summer vacations. :(

Dude. I know, what the hell?
It was $2.97 when I "filled up" today (which, Yeah, right, filling The Van up would probably cost $80. GODDAMMIT)

I heard it supposed to be going up to 4 bucks before July. Buy your stock now!
Yeeeeaaaah, I won't be going ANYwhere. Forever. No Cape Cod for me this year.

I am PISSED OFF and I am working hard to conserve every drop I can. I pay about the same as you. $3.11 and technically my car wants premium but it's just gonna have to do without. It costs well over $50 to fill my sedan which gets 25 mpg.
I nearly took a baseball bat to the asshole on my street who bought a BRAND NEW HUMMER this weekend. What the hell is wrong with people?
Anyway, I am torqued, like I said. It just went up overnight. And, the oil companies are raking in huge HUGE profits and we're all going around and buying the same amount of gas that we always have and assholes in Orange County are still buying brand new Humvees. I am going to stop driving altogether just so I don't have to support that whacked industry. Fucking oil companies. I will almost be glad when we run out so we will be forced to drive solar powered cars or something else. This is ridiculous.

It's $3.00.9 in northern NY. There's a lot of talk about it up here.

I read an article on CNN about higher gas prices this morning. It pisses me off that there isn't anything we can do about it.
Yesterday gas was 2.79, today on the way home from work I noticed it was 2.85. Fuckers! And I'm in the Philly suburbs.

As I was driving to work this morning, I think it was at 2.79. I'm sure it'll go right back up there, though. *sigh* I need some roller skates.

I live in Northern Virginia (Springfield) and I just paid $2.96/gal.
And yet, oddly enough the oil companies are making record profits! (Yeah, there's heavy sarcasm there.)
I'd take the subway if it went to where I work, even if it would take longer to get there.

It "dropped" from 2.84 to 2.79 up here in the Chicago burbs. I've been taking my step sons car to work since its a 4-banger and gets better milage.
I was thinking the same thing as you Mikey. I actually meant to post about the lack of pissed off people over this. Remember last year when everyone blamed this shit on Katrina? Whose fault is it now?!

last time I got gas (Friday) it was $2.99. I wouldn't be surprised if it were that high today, too.

Here in Vegas (on my side of town, which is the northwest side), it's $2.89 for regular unleaded. Not sure about other locations thru-out the city, though.

I haven't seen $3/gallon yet, but I'm sure I will. The highest I've seen is $2.90/gallon, but now it's around $2.69 (Northeast Ohio.) When it cost $40 to fill up a Camaro, I was pissed.

2.73 in Kansas City, MO
lots are talking about it around these parts

just went up to $2.75 here in Tiny Town, VA, and it's $2.99 in Richmond VA.
it has been on the national morning news just about every morning. but its mostly "and gas prices jumped 10 cents overnight, breaking an all time record high... now to the weather!" no explinations. but don't worry, polls show most americans will keep driving. except me, who will have to give up eating to pay for gas.

The range is 2.69 to 2.80 (NE Arkansas) per gallon here now...it started jumping up about a month ago, and no one said a word on the news. But now it's all over the news.
There's some kind of article on
CNN Money about this...the oil people are blaming the federal govt (surprise) saying they were not given a decent deadline to include ethanol so now they are scrambling, and the govt is saying that is BS...the oil people have had plenty of time.
It's just ridiculous. Gas should be costing us about $1.50 per gallon that what we are all paying. And Exxon had an increase in revenue of 32% last year. Hmmm.
Sorry, got off on a mini-vent there.

Shit I dont know! A few days ago it was 2.54 in SD but I havent noticed today because we have an all out blizzard on April 18th! The huge bummer about the gas prices is that I FINALLY got my Nissan xterra that I have wanted FOREVER and now a year later I cant afford to drive the thing. Going to have to trade it off for a honda I guess. :(

Gas here in Hampton Roads Virginia is around 2.82 for regular now. And I heard on the radio this morning that it is expected to actually get a bit higher. This sucks! Also I heard that due to some conversion they are doing that some stations in this area are running out of gas and may not have any until next week. They made it a point to say that it's not a shortage...just a conversion issue.
