For season two, I thought "Well, maybe it'll get better." It didn't. That "Hiro in the past" storyline went on for too long. The two South Americans trying to get to Dr. Suresh; that storyline went on for too long (and basically went nowhere). And for the last few episodes, I got the feeling the writers were doing anything to "wrap it up," since the season was ending soon. It was then and there that I decided to stop watching after the season was over (had to see exactly how it finished, didn't I?).
Alas, I let the hype get to me, and decided to give Heroes one last shot.
Talk about disappointment.
Seriously, I can't think of anything I liked from last night's episodes. I know, I know... everybody loves Heroes. I see all over the place how Heroes such a great show, and how it's the best show in TV, etc. etc. etc.
Bleh.
From big plot problems (I love how Hiro has to be totally stupid and act with the maturity of a 12 year old in order to make the plot move forward... that whole scene where he opened the safe even though he was told not to, and then letting the fast girl get away TWICE) to the little details (I saw one scene where Parkman was in the desert, and in the foreground, there was a python on a tree. Hello, pythons don't live in deserts, you morons!), I was disappointed.
I thought the show sucked. I mean, really, really sucked.
Will it get better? I don't know. Will I watch to see if it gets better? I don't know.
updated to add: another thing I hated about the season premiere... OK, my memory is a little fuzzy after two days, but I distinctly remember seeing at least four or five scenes that were totally ripped out of other shows/movies. I definitely saw two rips from T2, and I thought the whole Nathan/Linderman bit was a lot lot LOT like Baltar/Seven from Battlestar Galactica. I suppose it's a good thing that they're trying to be like BSG (which, by the way, is an incredible show), but damn, to rip it so obviously? Just weak.
There were some other rip offs in there, but I'd have to watch the episodes again to remember them. I guess because the show was just so... un memorable.
