OK, I don't usually eat at McDonald's, but I was running errands during lunch, and it was convenient. And yanno, their food isn't all that, but I have to admit... their fries are the bomb. Sure, sometimes, depending on the crew, they'll fuck up the fries, and they'll be all soggy. But when they're "on", I'd have to say that McDonalds has the absolute best fries of the major chains.
A close second would have to go to west-coast-only In-n-Out Burger, but you have to order the fries "well done" for them to be any good.
Just outta curiousity... does anybody prefer someone else's fries to McDonalds' fries? Or does everybody agree that they're the best?

While I agree that McD's fries are the tastiest mofo's around, I haven't actually eaten any since I saw
Supersize Me back in November. It wasn't the movie that did me in, but one of the extra features where a scientific experiment done over ten weeks left me wanting to barf.

I agree that McDs has the best fries but I hate their ketchup. That's the only thing that keeps the fries from being absolutely perfect.

mmm. love those fries. It's been a long, long time since I've had these but I used to really like the fries from a chain called Rally's. Haven't had them since 1992, when I moved to New Mexico, though so they could be crappy now.

I'll second the Braums fries - but that's midwest only... I'm preferential to the west-coast In-n-Out fries... but mcDonalds makes a decent fallback if there is nothing better...

mmm...fries. the only otehr fries i really like besides the aforementioned mcd's and in-n-out are island's fries, but they aren't fast food.
but they are sooooo good.

We went to McDonalds for their fries, a little while back. I used to LOVE their fries and we just didn't think they tasted the same. I think they changed the oil they were cooking them in. However, we were there on Saturday for a quick snack, and split some chicken nuggets. MAN, have those things gotten like 40 times better. We could have eaten like 20 a piece, easily.

In & Out fries are only good when they're still hot hot hot.
I would have to say Arby's Curly fries are my favorite.
I only eat McDonald's fries if I have some of their Sweet and Sour sauce to dip it in.

McD's has the best fries, but In-n-Out has the WORST ON THE PLANET. They've always been soggy grease strings for me. I never knew you could ask for them "well done", though. I dislike chains where you have to be "in the know" to get your food the way you want it.

I was just telling a friend the other day that my ONE dietary downfall is McDonald's fries. So crispy and hot and salty. Mmmmm...
My runner up favorite is only-in-the-south Backyard Burger's seasoned fries. They're especially good with their handmade chocolate shakes.
I think I just put on four pounds thinking about it...

We have a place here called Backyard Burgers and they have fries called Waffle Fries that are the BEST fries anywhere!!!

I've never understood why people like McD's fries. They're not that good. I prefer Burger King. Also, Krystal has good fries (they're like the White Castle of the South).
