OK, I think we've all grown up with them. And I still see them everywhere... but I guess I didn't realize... people still read Archie comics?
You know what I'm talking about. Archie, Jughead, Reggie... Betty and Veronica... Big Moose, Midge, Mr. Weatherby. I still see the little comic booklets at the check-out aisle...
Yeah. I read that stuff when I was a kid. But really, I would have thought that times have changed, and that kinda stuff would be... well, "old." Or, at the very least, old-fashioned. Do kids still really read these? Don't get me wrong - it wouldn't be a bad thing if they did. It'd just be... surprising. To me.
Maybe I'll have to go out and get a book during lunch. I'll read it as I down my
free slurpee.
And for the record, I always always
always thought Betty was hotter than Veronica. And now, it's not just because she was blonde. I mean, come on... she was always so much nicer, and Veronica's just a spoiled bitch.
Don't mess with Midge, though. Big Moose'll kill you.

Next entry: just curious
Previous entry: beware of the frozen throat, though
It's a tradition in Rob's family to receive an Archie in your Christmas stocking. I got one this past Christmas-- and I was all excited.
Does anyone remember when Jughead HATED girls? He used to be like, "Ew girls yuck" and Big Ethel would chase him around. When did that change?

I always thought there was more to the Betty/Veronica dichotomy than they let on. I mean, they were equally attractive, so why would Ronnie get ALL of the attention while Betty sat at home and baked a pie?
My theory was that Ronnie was the one that was willing to screw, while Betty wanted to wait for marriage. That had to be it. I mean, there's no way Arch and Reg were getting that worked up over hair color, were they?

I totally would have pegged you for a Veronica, but you do love those blondes.
Veronica
was kind of a bitch, though.

I LOVE Archie comics. I started reading them when I was about seven, and still buy them occasionally. I had an antire section of my closet to house my collection, which was somewhere in the 300-400 range before I finally passed them on to charity.
I love the absurd outfits they wear.
When I get around to finally having a dog of my own, it will be a boy doxie that I'll name Archie.
Not so long ago, I grew my hair out specifically so i could style it with bangs like Veronica.
All throughout high school I dyed my hair blue-black and then continuously added Manic Panic hair colour in bright blue over the top of it to achieve the blue sheen of Veronica's hair.
I've always wanted to get a group of friends together for Halloween to dress up as the Archie kids.
I think Ronnie got all the boys attention because she had charisma. Being sexy isn't just about what you look like, as I'm sure you know. She was FEISTY. Betty was cute and all, but BLAHSVILLE.
PS: Jughead like girls now??!! WTF I guess it's been a while since I picked up a comic. That's just wrong...

Hey, I wandered in here a few months ago from Sporty's site. Just thought I'd chime in...hope you don't mind.
Archie was one of my fav comics. I always felt sorry for Betty, even though I'm more a Veronica type.
By the by, did you forget about marque monday (or however you spell it)?

As a young man, I would get wood watching Betty on the Archie telly show

I love the Archie comic books. I read them all the way through high school (Well, not each and every one, but I'd buy them). I still pick them up from time to time, and they're hard to resist in the checkout line.
one thing I have noticed: they recycle old storylines. I totally have really old comics with similar or the same plot lines as new ones I've bought. they esp. cycle the really short (1-3 page) ones.

Betty is definitely WAY hotter! (And I'm not just saying that 'cause I look like Betty...)

I was wondering this same thing myself just a few days ago, also after seeing
Archie comics (at Target, I think). I'm glad they're still around; if nothing else, it means all is not yet lost.
P.S. I always preferred Betty. Odd, considering I've been a brunette man since the age of four. I think it's because Veronica was always just too much of a bitch.

Yeah, but Veronica would probably be a freak in bed.
